The traditional design of this Viking pouch dates back to the settlement of the Orkney Islands in the 10th century. The pouch is made of smooth cowhide leather up to 2.8 mm thick. It fastens with a hand-forged pin on the flap. The embossed motif from Viking mythology is said to bestow vitality upon its owner. The Orkney belt pouch is worn suspended from the belt using the braided loops.
