The name of the wine is meant to evoke the "god" Kwasir .
In Norse mythology, Kvasir is a god created by the Aesir and Vanir as part of their peace treaty. Kvasir thus combined the abilities of both gods and surpassed all beings in wisdom. Later, he was killed by the dwarves Fjalar and Galar , who mixed his blood with honey to make mead, the drinking of which turns anyone into a poet.
