Authors:
Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm
Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) studied law in Marburg. In 1830, they accepted professorships at the University of Göttingen, where they were among the "Göttingen Seven." In 1841, King Frederick William IV of Prussia appointed them members of the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin. Inspired by the Heidelberg Romantic movement, they published "Children's and Household Tales" and "German Legends." The brothers' last major joint work was the "German Dictionary," which began publication in 1852 but was not completed during their lifetimes.
