CD Halgadom - Obscuring the Divine
Inspired by the divine and the beauty of nature, Halgadom have released a beautiful neo-folk album as their second release. A significant stylistic shift has taken place, moving away from their brutal black metal sound towards calmer, more contemplative, and at times darker music, best described as folk or neo-folk, or perhaps even bardic music.
The lyrics are performed entirely in German, something the band's leader places great importance on. The change in style likely stems from the fact that Halgadom's guitarist and lyricist recorded the album himself, with two guest vocalists. His vocals and those of the two women sound truly pleasant, without any off-key notes or distortion – quite impressive! This music isn't easily comparable to any other band, as Halgadom has found its own unique and positive style. Lyrically, they draw on the Edda, describe battles from "The Lord of the Rings," and offer a cynical critique of the Church. The female vocals are pleasant and genuinely good. The guitar solos are intricately crafted, and the melodies are beautifully catchy. The album features 10 tracks with Germanic-mystical themes. The artwork for Halgadom's second release is excellent, designed by the band's leader himself; it's dark, mystical, and aesthetically pleasing. You can definitely buy the CD; it stands out as an independent work from the mass of average music.
