Viking Age jewelry pendant in the Borre style / Borre style, modeled after a find from Finland.
This one features four animal heads and a snake pattern. The four animal heads could also represent the seasons.
The Borre style is dated to the 9th to 10th century and was named after the Borre grave find in Vestfold / Norway. Typical of the style are animal ornaments, animal heads, and knotwork. The Borre style is also known as the griffin style. It was particularly widespread in eastern Scandinavia.
