Viking axe modeled after the axe from Jutland / Mammen - decorative weapon!
Carbon steel axe with bronze fittings, from the tenth century in Jutland.
The original axe had silver wire inserts, a bird, animals with limbs, and other decorations.
It dates from the 10th century and is now in the National Museum in Copenhagen. The axe is a grave find.
It was placed in a Viking's grave around 970 AD, during the reign of Harald Bluetooth.
It has a bronze fitting with leather wrapping and a wooden handle.
  • Length including wooden handle approx. 75 cm
  • The size of the forged axe head is approximately 16 x 9.5 x 3.5 cm.
  • Carbon steel, Rockwell hardness 58-59
  • Weight approx. 1250 g
The axe is sharp and not suitable for staged combat. The branch is for decoration only!
