Eir is the goddess of health and healing in Norse mythology. She is considered the best healer and belongs to the Aesir, a lineage of Norse deities.
Eir is the Norse goddess of medicine, a servant of Frigga, and one of the Valkyries. Eir's task is to heal any illness that afflicts the queen of the gods. On Earth, she taught mortal women the art of healing, showing them which herbs were suitable for healing and how best to tend to wounds. She watches over women in childbirth and, as a Valkyrie who heals wounds and raises the dead, holds power over life and death. As a giver of life, she was revered in clans and at the courts of kings. As a healer, she knows the medicinal properties of herbs and is capable of resurrection. As the arbiter of fate over life and death, she is sometimes associated with the three Norns. It is fitting not to forget this goddess and to offer her abundant sacrifices, for it is within her power to take away any illness.
